The central piece of the Iowa Transportation Museum is the National Transportation Heroes Center — an online tool that showcases the transportation worker — the people who life go!

Through a blend of personal interviews, videos and written stories, visitors will hear directly from our country's unsung heroes and have the opportunity to nominate transportation heroes from their own lives.

The Heroes Center will travel to schools, businesses, the State fair and other events to celebrate how transportation was in the past, is now and will be in the future.

Our definition of a Transportation Hero will be all-encompassing; they maybe living or deceased, have a 'high profile name' or not be well-known atall. Their nomination may be due to one conspicuous act or it may be based on many years of loyal and caring service.
