Spaulding properties one step closer to engineerin

Reprinted courtesy of The Grinnell-Herald Register June 25, 2003

Gerry Schnepf, chairman of the Iowa Transportation Museum (ITM) Board of Directors, was in town Monday on museum business. Above, he and Grinnell Mayor Gordon Canfield pen agreements between ITM and the city of Grinnell which pave the way for acquisition and stabilization of the Spaulding Manufacturing Company properties as the future home of the museum and education complex. Transfer of the property has been completed since papers were signed earlier this week, and project organizers anticipate engineering work on the Nation Register of Historic Places site to begin later this summer. Also on Monday, Schnepf addressed the Seniors Education program, sponsored by Grinnell Regional Medical Center, to share his excitement for the project which will reflect Iowa’s “rich and diverse transportation history.”
